Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show how much nobility of Poznań and Kalisz Voivodeships was involved in defending the king Stanislaw Leszczynski in the years 1733–1735. As a result of the divided election of 1733 a civil war broke out. In its initial phase in Wielkopolska the nobility formed a local confederation at the majesty of Leszczynski. The marshal of this confederation was ensign trager (Polish: chorążyc) of Bydgoszcz Jan Andrzej Paledzki. During the fighting, his troops took part in the Jan Tarlo expedition to Gdansk as well as in the General Confederation in Dzikow. However, they failed to beat the Saxon army in the Wojevodships of Poznań and Kalisz.
