Abstract

The present study was aimed to assess knowledge regarding self-care management among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD). The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge regarding self-care management of COPD and to find association between knowledge regarding COPD and selected socio-demographic variables. The study was based on health belief model. The research design adopted for the study was descriptive survey design. The data collection instrument used was structured questionnaire to assess the socio-demographic data and structured knowledge questionnaire. The data collected were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that most of the patients, 70%, had moderate knowledge and 30% of patients had average knowledge regarding self-care management of COPD. The knowledge does not significantly associate with selected socio-demographic variables at 0.005 level of significance
