Abstract

“A study to compare the knowledge regarding tuberculosis among adults residing in selected urban and rural area at Aurangabad Taluk, with a view to develop an information booklet.” Objectives: (1) To assess the knowledge regarding tuberculosis among adults in urban area. (2) To assess the knowledge regarding tuberculosis among adults in rural area. (3) To compare the knowledge regarding tuberculosis among adults of urban and rural areas. (4) To find out association between the knowledge score regarding tuberculosis among adults of urban area with selected socio-demographic variables. (5) To find out association between the knowledge score regarding tuberculosis among adults of rural area with selected socio-demographic variables. (6) To develop an information booklet regarding tuberculosis. Methodology: The conceptual framework used for the study was based on Modified Nola J Pender’s Health promotion model. The study was conducted on a sample of 60 (30 urban and 30 rural) adults of Renuka Nagar and Karmad village of Aurangabad Taluk. Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used for selecting samples. In the present study, descriptive comparative survey design was adopted. The tool used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire. Reliability of the tool was r = 0.5. The data were collected, tabulated and analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The level of significance was at 0.05 levels. Result: The findings of the study showed that the knowledge of urban adults regarding tuberculosis was greater than of rural adults.
