Abstract
Hemodialysis patients as well as the healthcare workers of dialysis unit are vulnerable to contracting healthcare associated infections in view of frequent and prolonged exposure to many contaminants in the dialysis environment. Objectives : The study aimed to assess the knowledge of practice among healthcare workers regarding infection control measures. Methods : A quantitative approach with a descriptive design was adopted. The demographic proforma, structured knowledge of practice questionnaire on infection control measures in dialysis unit were used to collect the data in January 2017. A total of 50 healthcare workers were enrolled in the study based on enumerative sampling in the study. Results : The results showed that majority healthcare workers 39 (78%) had good knowledge of practice on infection control measures in dialysis. Conclusion : Health care workers in dialysis environment is very much susceptible for contracting infections hence they should possess good knowledge. This study findings also revealed that healthcare workersin the present study setting had good knowledge of infection control measures in dialysis unit.
