Abstract

Objectives: To describe the number and the characteristic of tuberculosis patients. Examine the knowledge, attitude and behavior of tuberculosis prevention of Danang residents. Identify some factors related to the knowledge, attitude and behavior of tuberculosis prevention of residents in Haichau district, Danang city. Methodology: Cross-sectional design, conducted from July 2013 to December 2013 . The data collection was performed with 795 Danang residents aged over 18 without tuberculosis diagnosis via interviewed questionnaire and 350 tuberculosis patients who follow-up in Haichau medical center in 2013 via their medical records. The data was analyzed by SPSS 16.0 software. Chi-square test was used to test the relationships between knowledge, attitude, behavior and independent variables. Results: The patients in working age (84.9%) , male (76.9%), high school level (49.4%) and unskilled workers (51.7%) were the highest proportions. The percentage of residents who had right knowledge, right attitude and right behavior of tuberculosis was 77,0%, 86,8% and 71,3%, respectively. Tuberculosis prevention knowledge was associated with age, occupation and education level (p<0.05). Tuberculosis prevention attitude was related with age, gender and occupation (p<0.05). Tuberculosis prevention behavior was associated with age, gender, occupation and education level (p<0.05). Keywords: Tuberculosis, tuberculosis prevention
