Abstract

The Knight shifts K of both atoms in liquid binary semiconducting alloys are derived, using the quasi-chemical model which had been developed for the thermodynamic properties, and plausible assumptions about the hyperfine interactions. An asymmetric shape for K versus concentration is obtained. Comparison is made with data for K (Te) in liquid SnTe. A strong reduction of K on the minority side appears to be a general consequence, and a sign of local interaction, in strongly bound liquid alloys.
