Extended summary Introduction and Purpose: This research aims at establishing the relationship between gender and culture through the cultural lens of cinematic representations. Based on the assumption that there are parallels between cultural identity and gender, the study aims at comparing the cultural and patriarchal structures in Turkey and South Korea. The starting point of research is to question how the constructions around gender identities in Turkish and Korean cinema is part of Turkish and Korean culture and how these are being constructed both rhetorically or symbolically
