Abstract

The paper discussed about the activities organized by the IEEE Student Branch of University of Auckland. As its leadership has spurred a student membership growth of 40% over the last two years. Current figures cite 220 active members who are offered the opportunity to participate in approximately ten student events every year. Although the branch's executive committee meets at least twice a semester, much of the organization is conducted via e-mail. The branch has grown to become a core social organization for students studying in IEEE-related fields, and students view membership as a great way to pick up professional skills, industry contacts, and to have fun.
