Abstract

After the end of the world war I in 1918, some problems related to borders appeared between countries that are different in their size, Power and potentials. One of these problems was the Iraqi- Kuwaiti dispute which considered as one of the most affecting disputes on the Gulf and the whole region.This research deals with The Iraqi demanding of annexing Kuwait in 1961 and the K.S.A Attitude from this crisis and its awareness of the strategic and geographic of Kuwait and its | huge Petroleum resources, which could add to Iraq if Kuwait is annexed, higher status and more influence in the region.Many historical documents have proved that Kuwait was La part of Iraq and it was a district belongs to Basra during The Ottoman era. Marty Iraqi Politicians worked on giving it back to Iraq. but they Failed in that because of the British occupation who tried to dominate over the region in order to save its interests in Kuwait especially after the oil discovery.The Kuwaiti issue obsessed many Iraqi Politicians Since the Crowning of King Faisl the First in 1921.morever, after the revolution of July, the sheikhs of Kuwait tried to approach the Iraqi President. Abdul-Karim Qassim, but he wasn't different from his antecedents in demanding to retake Kuwait even if that entails the military interphones but Britain stopped him from doing so.
