Abstract

In the absence of an emulsifier the graft polymerization of methyl acrylate to water soluble polysaccharides obeys the main regularities of emulsion polymerization processes. The polymerization rate in the second stage of the process studied (up to a 40–50% degree of conversion) remains constant on account of the gel effect. The kinetic parameters of the reaction were found to be in keeping with the proposed kinetic scheme.
