Abstract

A study has been made of features of carbonyl group accumulation during the oxidation of polyisoprene and decay of its hydroperoxides. It is shown that the formulation of carbonyl groups during chain propagation results from transformation of the alkoxyl radical. Kinetic parameters have been evaluated for the individual elementary steps. The main reason for the poor thermal stability of polyisoprene rubber is considered to be the high values of rate constants of elementary steps in the oxidation process.
