Abstract

In batch and continuous hybridoma cultures fed with a serum-free medium, insulin is consumed, ascorbic acid produced, whereas the level of transferrin remains constant. Insulin is inhibitory to cell growth above 5 mg/L. Continuous cultures can be maintained at a relatively high density (2 x106 cells/mL) in the absence of added insulin.
