Abstract

A study was made by the superposition of periodic deformation on unidirectional deformation of the effect of kinepectic reinforcement in fluid gels of aluminium napthenate in the velocity range of deformation which includes the range of constant maximum viscosity and transition to the state corresponding to a “solid” with a tensile strength Pr. The degree of reinforcement according to dynamic modulus G′ depends not only on shear stress P, but also on the rate of deformation γ. The value of G′ increases sevenfold. A study was made of the variation of relaxation times at various stages of deformation. In the interval between Pr and stationary stress Ps relaxation takes place exponentially in a considerable section. Properties of naphthenate gels were compared with properties of gelatin gels.
