Abstract
(1) In our language, forming proper names involves using psychological facts such as the experience of similarities, memories and so on. The Convention is that the use of the sign is independent of the person’s Position in Spaceand time. If yesterday’s John no longer were today’s, nor John in the next room John in this, or John in one suit John in another and so on, I could not call out: ‘John, bring me a glass of water!’ For at each point I should have to lay down a new Convention and teil him of it.
