Abstract
Abstract CHILD MORTALITY IN SOUTH AFRICA: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS: Child mortality and especially infant mortality is one of the most delicate health problems in developing countries South Africa is no exception to this rule. Furthermore, infant mortality is a sensitive indicator of the health conditions of the different population groups in this country and also reflects the quality of health care. It is therefore of the utmost importance that the situation of infant mortality should be monitored continuously in all its facets and health care programmes should be organised and reorganised according to the actual demand, as indicated by infant mortality statistics. This article is a review of this serious problem within the South African health profile.
