Abstract

Objective: To help health managers have a view of the current status of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of patients, thereby developing communication strategies, health education, and behavior change interventions in the prevention of COVID-19 disease for outpatients at the hospital, we conducted a study: Knowledge, Attitudes compliance with guidelines for prevention of acute respiratory infections COVID-19 of outpatient at Ho Chi Minh City University Of Medicine And Pharmacy Hospital, 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 415 outpatients at Ho Chi Minh City University Of Medicine And Pharmacy Hospital, from July 01, 2020 to July 04, 2021, subjects were interviewed directly using a set of prepared questionnaires. Results: The percentage of patients with correct general knowledge was 55.90%, in which the patient with the highest correct general knowledge about the “Path of transmission” was 99.04%. The proportion of patients with correct knowledge of prevention was 57.83%, of which the highest correct knowledge about “Treatment of suspected infection” was 86.51%. The majority of patients had the right preventive attitude, accounting for 90.60%, especially the highest correct attitude were "Wearing a mask", "Prevention for the community" and "Treatment when suspected disease", all accounted for 92.29%. Conclusion: The rate of general knowledge and prevention knowledge of the patients is not high. Most patients have correct preventive attitude. Therefore, it is necessary to systematize knowledge and provide adequate knowledge to help patients improve their general knowledge and correct prevention knowledge about Covid-19 acute respiratory infection.
