Abstract

Abstract KIDD Alloy ZA-27 is a zinc-aluminum-copper high-strength foundry alloy. It is well suited to structural applications, once the exclusive domain of malleable cast iron, bronzes and aluminum. ZA-27 offers an as-sand-cast tensile strength of 58,000 to 64,000 psi at modest cost; also, it can be cast in cold-chamber machines for better properties than those of conventional die-casting alloys. It is extremely resistant to galling because it has natural lubricity and is thus well suited to bearing and bushing applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness, creep, and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-39. Producer or source: Kidd Creek Mines Ltd.
