Abstract

With the acceleration of urbanization and changes in family structures, Kid Zone community spaces have become crucial places connecting urban areas and communities, making them key issues in urban planning and community development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of traditional Kid Zone community spaces as mediators for the healthy physical and mental development of children, based on the theory of embodied cognition. The research method involves conducting field investigations on traditional Kid Zone community spaces in the Xiamen region, followed by a case analysis of two selected communities that meet the criteria. The conclusion is that Kid Zone communities can be activated and improved from the perspective of embodied cognition space characteristics at three levels: embodiment, experience, and embeddedness.
