Abstract

This study combines literature review with personal experience from individuals within the industry. We are going to discuss the key characteristics of successful biotechnology company leaders. Continuous learning and adaption are the key characteristics of a successful biopharmaceutical company leader. In addition, the leaders should be able to consistently communicate his or her vision to all levels of the organization, be a strategic decision maker, and be flexible so that their vision can adjust to the culture and environment. Moreover, effective communication and the ability to build a communication friendly organization are also critical. Successful biopharmaceutical company leaders do not underestimate cultural differences between different departments and individuals within the company, but rather they should facilitate the communication between those groups. This results in diversity of thinking that improves strategic decision-making and creates effective cooperation within the organization.
