Abstract
This study aims at the character's concern for the natural environment which consists of (a) respect for nature, (b) moral responsibility towards nature, and (c) solidarity with nature, and (4) compassion and concern for nature. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, the approach used in this study is ecocriticism. The source of the research data is the novel Sumur Oil Tears by Winendra Gunawan, the first edition. The data in the study are in the form of story snippets, sentence quotes, paragraphs, and conversations that show problem ideas about caring for the natural environment. The data collection techniques are (1) careful reading of material objects, (2) identifying data that have relevance to indicators, and (3) describing the entire data as the corpus of research data. Analysis of the data used in this study according to Miles and Huberman which includes according to Miles & Huberman, which uses interactive techniques which include (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion drawing. The results of the study show 1) Respect for nature is shown by characters with attitudes and ethics towards nature in the form of mitigation (efforts to reduce risk), maintain, maintain, and respect the natural environment. (2) The attitude of moral responsibility towards nature is shown by the character while maintaining the sustainability of nature without ever exploiting the natural environment. (3) The attitude of solidarity towards nature is shown by the character by making improvements to the natural environment that has been damaged. (4) The attitude of compassion and concern for nature is shown by the character by loving other ecological creatures who are part of the sustainability of the natural environment.
