Abstract

A teacher who can master the quality and realization of all the skills, knowledge and expertise available at individual and how to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classroom. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of teaching methods based Deep Dialogue/Critical Thinking (DD/CT) on the emotional intelligence of vocational high school students in Banda Aceh. A total of 64 male students involved consisted of 37 students from urban and 27 rural students to see the difference in the two groups of emotional intelligence. Data collected by distributing questionnaires and observation activities that further analyzed to obtain the results they want to achieve. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics that include frequency and percentage of demographic factors, the mean and standard deviation of the views of students. While the inference statistical analysis used was t-test analysis to assess the significance of the 45-item questionnaire. The findings of the study showed that overall more dominant urban students give positive feedback about the course of engineering drawing techniques with methods of teaching and their own emotional intelligence and emotional intelligence better than rural students. Judging from its implementation, based learning method DD/CT positive impact on students' emotional intelligence. Thus, learning is an important element that must be mastered by teachers to improve their learning activities in the classroom.
