Abstract

The author provides a comprehensive overview of the international, national and self-regulation of the activities of private military and security companies, the ways in which the concerned approaches complement each other, the gaps related to the implementation of the relevant instruments, the issues related to responsibilities for violations of the law, as well as the related work of the UN’s Working Group on the Use of Mercenaries.
