Abstract

Fertek settlement located in the Cappadocia Region is within the Province of Nigde boundaries. Fertek has a multilayered historic pattern, including a church, a bath, a mosque, an underground city, chapels, traditional houses, historic fountains which are noteworthy. For the conservation of traditional Nigde dwellings, a traditional house registered under the name of 'Fertek House' and its architectural survey work is the main subject of this study. The first step in protection is to prepare the survey of the subject in scale and in detail to include all research studies related documentation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to document the current situation of the Fertek House which has historical and cultural significance, but also in danger of extinction through analytical investigations and evaluations. This study includes graphic documentation that defines Fertek House, which was made by taking photographs, traditional surveying methods, written identification, etc. Different functions in the settlement (churches, fountains etc.) all of the historic value must be protected as a whole. Thus, to conserve the settlement of historic value; the first step is to demonstrate the importance and make analysis. In this sense, documentation of the house, which is one of the important examples of traditional dwellings is important to conserve the historic pattern of the settlement.
