Abstract

Throughout the past sixty years there has been a series of articles written by various members of the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Kansas State University in which reports of unusual fungi or records of fungi new to Kansas have been published. This paper includes information of some of the collections of this kind made by the authors and others primarily during the period of 1955-1964. Included in this paper are 25 species and one variety never before recognized from Kansas. In addition, 19 new host records are listed for the state. Except when indicated, specimens have been deposited in the Mycological Herbarium at Kansas State University (KSC) and when possible duplicates have been sent to the New York Botanical Garden (NY) and the National Fungus Collections (BPI). In some cases collections have also been sent to other herbaria. Where possible, voucher specimens of the hosts have been deposited in the Kansas State Herbarium. The five species of Arthrobotrys listed below have been isolated from Kansas soils by Mrs. Karen Haard (1965) as a part of a Master of Science thesis problem. An accumulation of unidentified collections of Xylariaceae made primarily by the senior author during the period covered by this report was sent to Dr. Philip Martin who kindly identified them. Another group of collections of Polyporaceae were sent to Dr. M. J. Larsen for determination.
