Abstract

The main purpose of this paper consists of showing in which way the modes of investigation are presented in the literary work of Franz Kafka "In der Strafkolonie". The main methods of the paper are the hermeneutical and the phenomenological. The literary work of art shows, in the sense of Gadamerian hermeneutics, the meaning growth in comparison to non-literary investigation procedure. It also comes out that the investigation has its birthplace in fear and doubt. Every ideology of totalitarian regimes has its birthplace in the fear of the presence of the second or third, which puts into question the bare existence of such systems. Kafka's work shows us that every kind of ontological monism is impossible and that it leads to some kind of totalitarian political systems.
