Abstract
On the philosophy of Toyota Motor Corporation, "By the head and arms of the Japanese", the author has been working on the development of new technology which surpass those of western europe for hypoid-gears. Tooth surface measurement technology of hypoid gear, which was developed for the first time in the world, is the breakthrough that step up the level of hypoid-gear from the craftmanship to the technology. The design and manufacture support software (AHS) not only improves the quality of gears by utilizing the tooth surface measurement data, but also shortens the lead time for the development of quality gears. Other developments, the CNC gear cutting machine, the transmission error measurement device and the cutter re-grinding machine, are state of the art.
