Abstract

ABSTRACT The Business Library of the University of Pennsylvania created a knowledge database to help answer the questions of business students and faculty at the Wharton School. Using software developed by the Penn Library Systems Department, the “Business FAQ” contains hundreds of questions and answers and thousands of links to resources. The FAQ provides feedback on its usefulness by recording all words and phrases used for searching, and by indicating whether a response was available in the database. In 2004, Columbia University's Business Library adopted Penn's FAQ, and modified it for its own clients. Since then, a total of 10 academic libraries have adopted the Penn FAQ model. New questions added to the database as well as modifications of existing questions made by any of the partner libraries are automatically made available to the group. A site describing the FAQ can be found at http://www.datafarm.library.upenn.edu/pennlibraryfaq/faqmain.htm
