En s’appuyant sur les notices des emirs contenues dans le Jāmi‘ al-Tawārīḫ de Rasīd al-Dīn, J.P. montre que la conversion a l’islam a ete un long processus qui semble avoir debute en 1250, avant la conquete de Bagdad. La documentation prouve a l’evidence que les cheikhs soufis ont joue un role majeur dans l’islamisation de Mongols.
