Abstract

In this paper we analyze how Poverty and social sciences research, dedicated to poverty, are worked in journalism, using some cases as example. Journalism dedicated to the dissemination of info on research and results from scientific studies related to poverty has an important role of educating people about situations of poverty and possible ways of reducing it and may also have an effect of awareness, taking more and more citizens to participate and help developing initiatives in favor of those who need the most. We looked at issues of New York Times, Publico Newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun, news agency Reuters and United Press International. It seems evident that it is increasingly necessary to see Poverty released by media and more importance be given to the dissemination of info on poverty, helping to fight this scourge in the economic and social development through, inter alia, the disclosure of studies in the social sciences about this condition that crosses borders, religions, races or ethnicities.
