Abstract

ABSTRACT This strategic session/article is an update to one given over 10 years ago at the 1994 NASIG Conference. From the publisher's and the subscription agent's view, journal pricing is described for both the traditional print and the electronic formats. The publisher's view includes what factors are considered when setting pricing. How the agent handles journal pricing is discussed in detail as well as the changes caused by the advent of the electronic journal. To complete the business picture, the agent's view shows how the service charges for libraries are calculated as part of the revenue stream for agents.
