Abstract

In their article “Implementation of an Evidence-based bundle to reduce surgical site infection after cesarean section- review of the interventions1,” Mahomed et al. describe interventions to reduce surgical site infections post cesarean section at a regional hospital in Australia. These interventions included discussing and receiving buy-in from critical stakeholders: obstetric, midwifery, anesthesia, operating room staff, and infection prevention. Using a retrospective audit of patient records pre- and post-intervention, the authors aimed to determine whether the interventions reduced the number of post-cesarean surgical site infections based on readmission rates and staff compliance in following a surgical bundle.
