Abstract

Josephson junction circuits can serve as building blocks of quantum computers. Here we discuss designs, which employ magnetic flux degrees of freedom to process quantum information. Elementary single- and two-qubit logic gates can be performed by voltage or current pulses. The coherence time should be long enough to allow a series of such operations. We also discuss the read-out, i.e., a quantum measurement process, which is accomplished by coupling a dc-SQUID to the qubit.
