Abstract
Engravings and mezzotints of John Martin's biblical and apocalyptic paintings were a familiar sight in many Victorian parlours. Haworth Parsonage was no exception. This is a short biography of an artist whose style of epic landscape painting became a major influence on the early works of the Brontë children, in particular Branwell, who remained an admirer of the art of John Martin throughout his life.
