Abstract

Aim: Loss-of-function mutations in the apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) gene, which encodes an inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase, are associated with lower circulating APOC3 and reduced cardiovascular risk. Oligomer antisense inhibition of APOC3 production results in pronounced reduction of circulating APOC3 but its effect on cardiovascular risk remains unknown. The present study was performed to elucidate the relationships of circulating APOC3 with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
