Abstract

The use of contemporary teaching materials has been clearly stated in the revised curriculum in line with the constructivist approach. Depending on this situation, the importance of the materials to be used in the learning and teaching process has increased in order to create an effective classroom climate. As a matter of fact, these teaching materials actively involve students in the process and help them build their own learning and achieve permanent learning. One of these teaching materials is comics. As a matter of fact, comics are a multifunctional teaching material in which text and visuality are blended and presented to the reader. For this reason, it was aimed to determine the trends of graduate studies on the subject of comics and to increase the awareness of education staff about comics. In the research, document analysis was used as a data collection tool within the scope of qualitative method. The findings were subjected to content and descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the postgraduate studies on the subject of comics were mostly published at the master's level, in Turkish in 2022, in Istanbul University, Social Sciences Institute and Graphics Department. In addition, it is seen that the most qualitative method is used as the research methodology, the test/survey/scale is used the most as the data collection tool, and the t-test is used the most in the predictive category in the data analysis technique. In terms of sampling method, it was observed that purposive sampling was used the most in qualitative design, the sample group was 5-8 in primary education and the sample size was in the range of 101-300. Based on all these data, some suggestions were made.
