Abstract

An iterative computation technique is proposed to realize high-quality imaging through strong and rapidly changing turbulence media, where the wave-front of light cannot be sufficiently corrected by common adaptive optics. Raw images of both object under observation and reference point object are sequentially recorded for many times, and the clear image of the object under observation can be reconstructed rapidly from these distorted raw images using a Wiener filter based iterative computation strategy. Both numerical simulations and proof-of-principle-experiments have been carried out to demonstrate the feasibility this proposed method. Since it requires no adaptive optics, this proposed method has advantages of simple optical setup and convenient operation, and accordingly can find lots of applications in astronomical observation and biomedical imaging.
