Abstract

The chapter describes the performed empirical research. The research methodology, chosen research sample (1200 organizations from two business contexts—developing (Poland) and developed (Switzerland) economy) and identified variables are described. Verification process starts with confirming the proper selections of business contexts and verification of IT reliability as an indicator of IT—business alignment. After establishing that, the verification of the role of IT—business alignment in creating value for organization and its mechanism based on management methods quality and employees’ commitment is described based on: the relation between IT—business alignment and management methods quality, IT—business alignment and employee’s commitment, management methods quality and employee’s commitment, IT—business alignment and organizational performance, management methods quality and organizational performance, and employee’s commitment and organizational performance (considering the moderating effect of context variable and IT—business alignment). Finally, the overall, verified model of the mechanism of IT—business alignment influence on organizational performance is presented in order to fulfil an existing research gap.
