Ricky Tomlinson is fired up about a criminal trial that took place almost 45 years ago. “The trial was a cock-up from start to finish The foreman apparently later explained that it had been a court official who had told them what the sentence would be when the jury were in an 8:4 deadlock. Both Tomlinson and Warren were given immediate custodial sentences of two and three years respectively. When he sent us back in he said ‘these are deterrent sentences’” Since his release Tomlinson has been active in trying to uncover the truth about the Shrewsbury prosecutions. We were the starting point, because they got away with it with us”
