Abstract

Excellent IT core competencies are considered as integral factors for an individual whom is employed as an IT employee in a certain organization. Researchers and practitioners have examined organizations to try to discover causal links between competitive advantage and IT. It becomes a requirement for pre-employment in most organizations in Davao City. The researchers selected 12 organizations in Davao city with at least one employee who graduated with an IT related program. The descriptive correlation method is used in this study. Statistical treatment was used in order to achieve a correlation between IT core competencies and the employee’s job performance. Using descriptive statistics, this study found out that the IT graduates have efficiently acquired and applied IT core competencies. The IT graduates have efficient job performance in their respective organizations. Using t-test, this study had determined that there is a significant difference of IT core competencies and employee’s job performance when analyzed by specialization: BSIT, BSIS, BSIM, BSCS and Computer Technical course. This study had also determined that there is a significant difference in the level of IT core competencies and employee’s job performance when grouped according to Type of School Graduated: Public and Private. Using analysis of variance, this study found out that there is a significant relationship between IT core competencies and Job performance of IT graduates. It is further recommended that employers should include IT core competencies in their performance evaluation of employees and in their training programs.
