Abstract

In the North Carolina General Assembly during the 1993–1994 Session, 109 bills were introduced which dealt specifically with the issue of substance abuse. There were 42 bills introduced in the Senate and 67 bills introduced in the House. Three areas are discussed in this article: politics in general; substance abuse issues in the General Assembly; and one's role in affecting legislation.
