Abstract
The electrolytic separation factor of deuterium was calculated on the basis of the slow discharge mechanism assuming that the proton or deuteron is discharged from the water molecule as H/sub 2/O + e yields H + OH/sup -/ or DHO + e yields D + OH/sup -/. The results were in agreement with those obtained assuming that the proton or deuteron discharged was that of the hydroxyl ion. (M.C.G.)
