Abstract

1. In complex alloy Cr−Mo−V steels with 3% Cr the isothermal decomposition of supercooled austenite in the upper range of subcritical temperatures (850–600°) leads to the formation of ferrite-carbide structure with precipitation of carbide of the MC type. 2. When the chromium content of Cr−Mo−V steel is raised to 6–12% the sequence of reactions in the isothermal decomposition of supercooled austenite changed in the temperature range of 850–600°. First, a biphase region of A+C occurs and the type of carbide phase precipitated changes. The main carbides precipitated in this case are M23C6 and M7C3. 3. The stability of supercooled austenite during isothermal decomposition in Cr−Mo−V steels with 0.2% C varies with the chromium content of the steel.
