Abstract
The Lee strain of influenza virus was used, and was maintained as a stock pool of chick embryo allantoic fluid at --60 ~ C. Individual tissue cultures in 25 • 150 mm Pyrex culture tubes, consisted of 2 pieces of chorio-allantoic membrane from 10-day chick embryos, about 2 • 2 cm, suspended in 2.4 ml of glucosol medium**. For virus inoculation, 0.1 ml of the proper dilution to give about 107 EIDso*** was added to each tube. Cultures were incubated at 35~ for 44--48 hours on a reciprocating shaker. A modification of the pattern method of hemagglutinin titration (2) was used in all measurements of virus concentration. Two series of 2 fold dilutions
