Abstract

This paper presents the static behavior of Isotropic, laminated composite and CNT reinforced composite (CNTRC) functionally graded plates using isogeometric analysis (IGA) based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT). For CNTRC, material properties are considered in four different types of distribution of CNT. One is uniformly distributed and other three are functionally graded which are varying along the thickness direction of plates. IGA finite element analysis uses non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) basis functions to interpolate the geometry as well as relevant field variables. Parametric studies are carried out to investigate the comparison of Finite Element Analysis (FEM) and IGA for both types of composite plates with different boundary condition, aspect ratio and other parameters, on the central deflection of the plate after due validation.
