Abstract

Dialogue allows us to discuss nearly anything while listening, arguing, and agreeing to differ without losing our composure, patience, temper, or sense of dignity. Any attempt to make people aware of the mutual understanding of different faiths on the basis of common grounds in the world religions is called interfaith dialogue. It is highlighted as an emblem of peace by the religionists of the world. Interfaith dialogue is important for promoting peace, tolerance, harmony in the world. It consists of meaningful interaction and exchange between people of different groups (social, cultural, political and religious) who come together through various kinds of conversations or activities with a view to increased understanding. The holy Qur’ān asks Muslims to engage in constructive dialogue with people of other faiths on the basis of what they have common; doing righteous deeds. The foundation of the study lies in the textual analysis and historical interpretation of the Qur’ān and Sunnah. The Study aims to present an interpretation of the verses of the Qur’ān relating to interfaith dialogue and also highlight the concept of interfaith dialogue in Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
