espanolCon motivo del bicentenario del fallecimiento de Isidoro Maiquez, que se cumplio en marzo de 2020, este articulo se propone revisar uno de los aspectos que componen la poliedrica figura del actor espanol. Situada su vida entre el Antiguo Regimen y la nueva sociedad burguesa surgida tras la Revolucion Francesa, le toco vivir unos tiempos de cambio que afectaron profundamente a la Espana de su epoca. Considerado el primer actor moderno de la escena espanola, que rompe con la tradicion y estudia con los mejores del momento, Maiquez renovo el teatro con nuevos usos y costumbres, introduciendo nuevos repertorios y formas de interpretacion. Pero su figura trascendio a los escenarios y llego a convertirse en un simbolo para los luchadores por la libertad que, a lo largo del siglo XIX y principios del XX, fue enarbolado cuando las circunstancias lo requirieron. Located his life between the Old Regime and the new bourgeois society that emerged after the French Revolution, he had to live changing times that profoundly affected the Spain of its time. Considered the first modern actor in the Spanish stage, which breaks up with tradition and studies with the best of the moment, Maiquez renovated the theater with new habits and customs, introducing new repertoires and forms of performance. But his figure transcended the stage and became a symbol for freedom fighters who, throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, were raised when circumstances required it.
