Abstract
A young boy visiting his grandparents' vacation home landed in the hospital with a severe asthma attack. A man experienced a persistent cough while working in his air-conditioned office, yet he seemed to get better outside of the office. An entire family mysteriously developed serious allergy and asthma symptoms after they moved into a new apartment. What do all of these events have in common? In each case, the cause of illness was mold—and it was found growing under furniture, inside an air-conditioner blower, and behind walls.
