Abstract

We report on magnetization and torque measurements of SmBa2Cu3O7-δ (Sm123) single crystals with an oxygen content 7-δ=6.60,6.70and6.78. The anisotropy increases from 40.1±0.4 to 56.4±0.7 with decreasing oxygen content from 6.78 to 6.70. The crossover field, Hcr, where the irreversibility line changes slope, is lowered for crystal with a lower oxygen content. The Hcr values are higher for Sm123 than for YBa2Cu3O7-δ (Y123) single crystals. The anisotropy dependence on the oxygen content is compared to that of Y123.
