Abstract

The single phase Fe-doped NiTiO3 samples were fabricated by sol-gel method. The reduction in both direct and indirect optical band gap from 2.34eV to 1.82eV and from 2.02eV to 0.94eV, respectively, were obtained due to the presence of Fe substitution at Ni site in ilmenite structure of NiTiO3 materials. The NiTiO3 powders exhibited weak-ferromagnetism at room temperature while the Fe-doped NiTiO3 showed strong-ferromagnetism with the strong enhancement in magnetization. We expected that our work was further to understand the role of interaction in A-site in ilmenite structure to increase the room temperature magnetic ordering for electronic application.
