Abstract

Abstract ‘Pungo’ Irish potatoes were planted on March 11, 1976, in 3-row plots, 50 ft long at the Tidewater Research Station in Plymouth, North Carolina. Plots were replicated 3 times in a randomized complete block design. Treatments were sprayed five times on a weekly basis starting May 6 and ending May 27. Insecticides were applied with a tractor-mounted sprayer operated at 100 psi and delivering the equivalent of 100 gallons of water per acre. A 3-row boom was arranged with 3 hollow-cone nozzles per row. Percent plants infested with European corn borer were determined on June 10, 1976. The middle row of the 3-row plots was harvested on June 28. Potatoes were field graded into #11’s and #2’s and yields were taken.
